Aboriginal Family Support

Aboriginal Family SupportStrengthening families and our community

Are you an Aboriginal family who is struggling to deal with issues such as grief and loss, unemployment, financial hardship, parenting, budgeting, living skills, anger management or need support as a victim of domestic and family violence?

Then the Aboriginal Family Support program may be able to help you by assigning a Family Support Worker to help talk you through and support you with the issues you need to deal with.

What is the Aboriginal Family Support program?

The Aboriginal Family Support program works together with the local Aboriginal community to help strengthen families and to ensure a safe and culturally strong future for the children and young people in Aboriginal families. There are different groups run to support families, such as Jyldamenk, the Aboriginal Family and Carer Support Group, which provides educational and fun activities for parents and carers that include craft, guest speakers, social outings and special events. There is also Koori Playtime, where children can enjoy activities, social interaction, theme days, social outings and celebrating cultural special events. We can help you with legal issues, including accompanying you to Court.

Who can use the Aboriginal Family Support Program?

Aboriginal families with dependent children who may be in need of support or information.

Where is the Aboriginal Family Support Program available?

The Aboriginal Family Support Program is available to people living in the Deniliquin area.
