Family Links

Supporting families to raise childrenvolunteer home

Are you a new parent, have a young family or struggling to cope with the pressures of parenting? Are you the parent of a child with a disability or have a disability yourself and need a break, support or assistance?

Then Family Links may be able to assist you.

What is Family Links?

Parenting is one of the most important jobs we may ever do, however at times it can be a real challenge. Our qualified and experienced staff can offer practical strategies to assist you through these times.

The Family Links program is a free service that offers a range of information and support groups as well as one-to-one parenting assistance, both centre based and through home visiting. Feel free to contact our Family Workers to discuss available options in a confidential and caring manner.

Who can Family Links assist?

Family Links assists parents and carers with at least one child under eight years of age who may:

  • be looking for general information and support
  • be a new parent
  • be a young parent
  • have additional needs (eg. social issues, disabilities, domestic violence, mental health)
  • live in rural and remote areas
  • be Indigenous
  • be from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

What can Family Links provide?

Family Links can provide a range of services, depending on individual needs. These may include:

  • Information and resources about children’s development
  • Assistance to access relevant support services and groups
  • One-to-one parenting support
  • Parenting groups
  • Workshops and information sessions
  • Support to link into other services and general community activities.

Where is Family Links available?

Intereach Family Links is available in the Jerilderie, Berrigan, Corowa, Lockhart, Urana and Greater Hume Shires.

Would you like to be a volunteer for Family Links?

Family Links welcomes expressions of interest from those special people who appreciate the joys and difficulties in bringing up children. Volunteering opportunities exist either on a one-to-one basis with families, supporting parent groups, playgroups or assisting with coordinating community events.
