Deniliquin Community Transport is a Home and Community Care Program that provides a personalised door-to-door transport service within the Deniliquin, Mathoura and Conargo areas. This includes a bus service within Deniliquin for access to medical appointments, social outings and shopping, a charter bus service to Shepparton and Bendigo, transport to regional centres for medical/specialist appointments and a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Griffith Community Transport provides both a local and long-distance transport service for recreation, shopping, medical care, social services, social contact and a wheelchair accessible vehicle to improve the quality of life of eligible people and keep them living independently in their own homes.
Who is it for?
It is for the frail aged, and those with a disability, at risk of early or forced placement in a facility, and also isolated clients and their carers who are vulnerable or at risk. People who are unable to transport themselves, are unable to reasonably utilise mainstream public transport services or are unable to access private transport provided by friends or relatives.
The service is also available to Department of Veterans Affairs Gold and eligible White Card holders. The Deniliquin branch of Community Transport is authorised to take Department of Veterans' Affairs clients to health appointments seven days a week. Clients can be referred by services or can apply themselves.
Where is it available?
The Deniliquin Community Transport service is available in the Deniliquin, Conargo and Mathoura Areas. The Griffith Community Transport service is available to residents living in the Griffith Local Government Area.
When does it run?
The Deniliquin bus service operates on Monday - Friday from 9.15am to 4.30pm.
Transport from Deniliquin for regional centres operates on Monday - Friday between 6am and 8pm. Transport on weekends for hospital admission or discharge will be considered.
A charter bus service runs from Deniliquin To Shepparton (via Finley and Tocumwal) on the second Tuesday of March, April, June, September, October and December.
A charter bus service runs from Deniliquin To Bendigo (via Mathoura and Moama ) on the second Tuesday of May and November.
What are the costs involved?
There are fees and charges for the service which are determined by the Management of Community Transport. The fees are based on the minimum cost to operate the service, however if a client is experiencing financial difficulties then the fees are negotiable.
How do I book?
Bookings are essential and must be made two weeks in advance for trips to regional centres, and 24 hours in advance for town trips. Bookings can be made by calling the number below.
