FIDA Footy in Bendigo
01 Dec 2017

People in the Bendigo area who are aged over 14 years and have a disability, or attend Kalliana or SDS School, have been invited to a FREE Australian Rules Football taster day.

The Victorian Football Integration Development Association (FIDA) Football League gives people with an intellectual disability the chance to play competitive level Australian Rules Football.

Plans are underway to develop a Bendigo team to play in the league for the 2018 season. Male and female players welcome.

The taster day and development of a local FIDA footy league is a joint initiative of Intereach, AFL Victoria, AFL Central Victoria and Sports Focus. Intereach is partnering with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to deliver the NDIS in the local government areas of Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Greater Bendigo, Loddon, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander.

Intereach Chief Executive Officer Keryn Fox said: “FIDA Football is a great opportunity for people with disability to be part of a team, learn new skills, make friends and improve their confidence. And on top of this, footy is also great fun!”
