Intereach Deniliquin are on the lookout for volunteer drivers to support our Community Transport program.

Drivers play a vital role in supporting people to stay independent and connected to their community. While there are checks to ensure volunteer and passenger safety; a willingness to have a chat, assist clients with mobility, a current driver’s licence, and enthusiasm to work as part of a team are a great start to joining the community transport team.

Intereach Acting CEO Yvette Buhagiar said Community Transport was keen to hear from prospective drivers.

“The success of Intereach has been built upon the valuable contribution of our community volunteers. They say it’s a great way to get some experience, get out into the community and build networks,” Ms Buhagiar said.

“If you love helping other people, we would love to hear from you. We have a great volunteer team and support network.”

Volunteer driver Neville Lester said it was a wonderful way to support the community.

“It’s certainly very rewarding. It’s all about helping. You know you are making a great contribution to the community and being part of connecting people who would otherwise need to look at alternative arrangements to attend medical appointments or social activities or even going shopping,” Mr Lester said.

Intereach provides a community transport vehicle and will assist prospective drivers to gain the necessary checks and assessments to join the group.
