Nominations are now open for the International Women’s Day 2018 Awards in Hay.

Organised by Intereach, the awards seek to properly acknowledge and recognize the contributions of women in the local area.

International Women’s Day, Thursday 8 March 2018, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. This year’s theme is #PressforProgress, which highlights the need for people, organisations and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

Intereach CEO Keryn Fox said, “This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the achievements of local women whose outstanding contributions have enriched the lives of others. International Women’s Day is all about promoting and supporting women as valued contributors and equal participants in community life. Women make a massive contribution to the wellbeing of our community in a rich range of roles and capacities, yet we may not always hear about their achievements.”

“If you know an extraordinary woman who should be recognised please let us know. I wish all women a very happy International Women’s Day and I look forward to hearing some of the great achievements of women in the Hay area.”

Nominations close March 6 and all nominations will be published on the Intereach Hay Community Hub Facebook page. Each nominee will receive a printed certificate.
