New schedule for Community Transport
A new trip schedule has been developed for the Intereach Community Transport service in Deniliquin.
It is designed to provide the most flexible and accessible transport services for clients, while at the same time prioritising the safety of the Intereach drivers, many of whom are volunteers.
The new timetable will be effective from Monday January 4, 2021, with out-of-town trips now on specific days to Albury, Bendigo, Shepparton, Echuca and Melbourne. Community Transport will be available to Wagga Wagga, Finley and other destinations upon request.
The Deniliquin schedule will be as follows:
- Albury – Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
- Bendigo – Monday and Friday
- Shepparton – Tuesday and Wednesday
- Echuca – Monday and Thursday
- Melbourne – Tuesday and Thursday
Intereach General Manager Operations Sam Hall said regular clients will be sent a letter advising of the new schedule, and anyone else interested in using the service is encouraged to contact Intereach.
“Our aim is to help people living in Deniliquin to stay independent and connected to the local community,” Sam said.
“While we will have a schedule, there will still be some flexibility for community members. However, we’re asking that people work in as best they can with our new schedule.
“If you’re transport disadvantaged, I’d encourage you to contact our team to discuss your eligibility for Community Transport. There is a good chance that you’ll be eligible for the service.
“We have modern vehicles and can help you do your shopping, attend social events, or cater for group bookings.”
The service operates Monday to Friday, usually between 9am and 4.30pm. In special circumstances, clients can be accommodated outside these hours.
To book Community Transport or learn more about the service, you can phone Intereach on 1300 488 226, or visit the Intereach Neighbourhood Centre in Trickett St, Deniliquin.
It is recommended that anyone using Community Transport should book at least a week before they need to travel.
“For new clients, we will develop an idea of your needs and book the transport to suit you. After your first trip, it’s just a matter of making a booking when you need it,” Sam explained.
