Intereach celebrates inclusion at TriviAbility
More than 130 community members came together to celebrate disability inclusion in Wagga Wagga this month at TriviAbility.
Intereach hosted the high-energy, fully inclusive trivia event to mark International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Delivered by the Intereach local area coordination (LAC) Links team, TriviAbility set the tone for a week of celebrations across the organisation’s footprint which recognise strengths, overcome barriers and bring communities together.
Held at the Mercure Wagga Wagga, participants enjoyed a fun and competitive afternoon over a shared meal, thanks to the venue’s generous support.
Intereach sponsored the event, with Origin Energy contributing prizes to help make the day even more memorable.
The trivia rounds kept the room buzzing, with categories including ‘Name the Movie from the Musical Score’, ’Which Logo Is Correct?’, ’TV Theme Songs’, a lively game of Heads or Tails, and more than 40 lucky door prizes.
The winning teams were:
- First place: Minds and Abilities
- Second place: Art Smarts
- Third place: TLC
Intereach Operations General Manager Kerri-Anne Hyde said TriviAbility embodied what IDPwD is all about.
“IDPwD is about celebrating the contributions people with disability make in our communities,” Ms Hyde said.
“TriviAbility created a space where people could connect, participate and have fun together. Our LAC Links team did an outstanding job delivering an event where everyone felt included and supported.”
While Wagga’s TriviAbility drew one of the biggest crowds of the week, Intereach teams across NSW and Victoria delivered a full program of events to promote inclusion and community connection as part of IDPwD.
Ms Hyde said the variety of activities showcased Intereach’s commitment to creating accessible, connected communities.
“As the NDIS Partner across our footprint, we are proud to support individuals, families and local organisations to build stronger, more inclusive communities,” she said.
“The enthusiasm we’ve seen across the region this week shows just how much these opportunities for connection matter.”
Intereach would like to thank all participants, volunteers, sponsors and partner organisations who contributed to this year’s IDPwD activities.
