Intereach marks IDAHOBIT with powerful webinar
Intereach will proudly mark IDAHOBIT Day – International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia – with a special event for staff to reflect, learn and stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ communities.
Held annually on 17 May, IDAHOBIT is an important day on the Intereach calendar, forming part of our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and respect for all.
This year, Intereach is hosting an inspiring staff webinar featuring guest speaker delsi Moleta from the Victorian Pride Centre.
A passionate queer advocate, educator and founder of Unicorns – one of Australia’s most iconic LGBTQIA+ event series – delsi brings 15 years’ experience in activism, filmmaking, education, and inclusion training. They have worked with leading organisations such as Minus18, Switchboard Victoria, and Midsumma Festival to champion change and create safe, inclusive spaces.
delsi will share their deeply personal journey, from creative activism and community building to their landmark legal win against online defamation and the development of Victoria’s first WorkSafe WorkWell Educational Toolkit – a resource helping organisations create safer, more inclusive workplaces.
Intereach General Manager People, Quality and Risk Felicity Whorlow said events like IDAHOBIT were essential for fostering a culture of awareness and understanding.
“They are about visibility, respect and allyship. They remind us of the importance of creating workplaces and communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and able to be themselves,” Felicity said.
“Our staff benefit immensely from hearing lived experiences and practical examples of advocacy, like delsi’s, that challenge stigma and drive real change. These events not only educate, but they also inspire action.”
Intereach recognises key inclusion days throughout the year, selected by its Diversity and Inclusion Reference Group (DIRG). This staff-led group brings together voices from across the organisation to guide initiatives, shape inclusive practices, and promote respect and equity in everything Intereach does.
Their work is supported and informed by the Intereach Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan 2024–2027, which sets a clear vision for embedding inclusive values across all areas of the organisation.
“We want every staff member – and every person in our communities – to know they are welcome at Intereach. Our DIRG plays a key role in ensuring we walk the talk when it comes to inclusion,” Felicity said.
