Intereach thanks aged care staff for caring

Intereach is recognising the tireless work of staff who are making a difference to the lives of older people, ahead of Aged Care Employee Day on Thursday, 7 August.
Intereach has more than 240 aged care employees and 100 volunteers across southern NSW, north/central Victoria and the Mallee, providing a range of services including care coordination, Meals on Wheels, Community Transport, Home and Community Care, and social support.
One of those is Care Coordinator Emma, based in Echuca, who has had the privilege of supporting many of her clients for years, some since she was their Community Support Worker three years ago.
“I absolutely love working with my clients — it fills my heart,” she said.
“The bonds you build in this role are so special. I treat every client like they’re part of my own family, and I give them the kind of care and respect I’d want for my loved ones.

“Every day, I feel incredibly lucky to make a real difference in their lives. I’m there to support them, whether they need a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply someone who cares.”
Emma’s client June said the support from Intereach allowed her to continue living at home for as long as possible.
“Emma organises a cleaner who comes to my home and we have a chat and a bit of a laugh, which is good. And I find Emma very thorough and caring if I want anything,” June said.
Intereach Co-CEO Yvette Buhagiar said Emma and the hundreds of other aged care team members did a wonderful job supporting older people to remain independent and active in the communities for longer.
“Every day, aged care employees perform their roles with immense dedication and compassion, often going above and beyond to ensure the wellbeing of our older community members,” Mrs Buhagiar said.

“Aged Care Employee Day is an opportunity for all of us to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for their invaluable contributions and to say ‘Thanks for Caring’.”
To celebrate the day, Intereach will be hosting morning teas across its footprint on 7 August to thank aged care workers for all they do.
To continue the great work of our aged care employees, Intereach is seeking staff for a range of exciting career opportunities.
