Hat-trick win for Intereach educator in Family Day Care awards
Intereach Family Day Care educator Michelle Oellerman has once again been recognised for her outstanding contribution to early childhood education and care.
The Echuca educator has been named Regional Educator of the Year for the Mildura and Murray region (Vic) in the 2025 Family Day Care Australia Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
This is the third consecutive year Michelle has received the honour, a testament to her passion for nurturing children in her care.
“Being recognised three years in a row means the world to me,” she said.
“It’s a reminder that the love, care, and effort I put into each day with the children is making a difference. I feel so grateful and humbled, and it just makes my heart full knowing the work I love is valued.”
Michelle has been an educator with Intereach Family Day Care for eight years, bringing 17 years of experience working with children of all ages.
Her passion continues to be fuelled by the joy and curiosity of the children themselves.
“Their smiles, the way they see the world, and those little moments of growth and learning – that’s what keeps me going,” she said.
“No two days are ever the same, and I still get just as much joy and inspiration from them now as I did when I first started.”
Michelle said she valued the strong support provided by Intereach, which allowed her to focus on creating a safe, encouraging and fun learning environment.
“Intereach is always there with guidance, encouragement and resources, which makes such a difference in our daily work,” she said.
“Knowing I’ve got a strong team behind me means I can put my whole focus into what matters most – giving the children a safe, loving and fun place to grow.
“I love Family Day Care. It is a unique environment that is nurturing, educational and supportive – all in the comfort of a homely environment.”
Intereach Family Day Care Program Manager Rebecca Fitzpatrick said Michelle was an asset to the team – always exploring new and innovative ways to ensure children and their families get the best from her program.
“Her curiosity approach places children at the centre of their learning, giving them the freedom to make choices, explore and problem-solve. This builds confidence, independence and critical thinking skills that will support them well into the future,” she said.
The national finalists of the Family Day Care Australia Excellence Awards will be announced on 16 September, with the winners presented at a ceremony on 25 October 2025.
