Personal experience makes Dick volunteer

An Intereach volunteer driver for five years, Dick’s first introduction to Community Transport came after being left stranded in Albury following a hospital discharge.

“I had no way of getting home, one of the nurses put me in touch with Intereach who sent a driver to collect me.

I was apprehensive about volunteering at first, but it gives you such a good feeling and the more you put into it the more you get out of it”

“I’ve been retired for 19 years and I think volunteering keeps me sane, I don’t want to sit at home twiddling my thumbs. Since I’ve started I feel fitter and healthier because I’m always on the go and you meet lovely people who can become good friends. While I’m fit and able I will volunteer, because one day I might need the service again myself.”
