Intereach welcomes today’s announcement of changes to out-of-pocket expenses for older Australians accessing in-home support services through aged care.

The decision recognises the importance of providing affordable access to services that support the health, wellbeing, and dignity of older people in our communities.

Intereach Co-CEO Yvette Buhagiar said the provision of in-home support services, including personal care, allowed older Australians to remain safe and independent in their own homes.

“For the families of aged care participants, knowing that their loved ones are receiving the care and support they need when they need it provides important peace of mind,” Mrs Buhagiar said.

“This announcement is an important step toward reforming aged care in a way that genuinely puts people first. It reflects growing recognition that sustainable funding solutions must go hand in hand with compassion, accessibility and quality.

“At Intereach, we believe care should always be delivered with kindness, respect and dignity. These values guide our work every day as we support older people to live well, remain connected and continue to participate in their communities.

“We remain committed to working collaboratively with government, service providers and local communities to strengthen aged care services,” she said.
