Grandparents and Kinship Carers recognised
Intereach has honoured the often-overlooked caregivers who play crucial roles in raising grandchildren and family members, many of whom have faced trauma and hardship.
The special Grandparents & Kinship Carers Pamper Day was part of a recent National Families Week celebration.
Guests enjoyed a Mocktail & Masterpiece art session, a delicious lunch, and pamper goodie bags made possible by the donated Disaster Relief Emotional Support Packs from Good360 Australia.
The 2022 Murray River flood event significantly affected the Corowa community, inundating parts of the town. For many months, residents, businesses, and community areas were impacted by floodwaters, and disaster recovery efforts continue across the region.
Grandparents and carers expressed their gratitude for the day and appreciated the recognition. Heather, one of the carers in attendance, was thrilled with the pamper packs and their positive impact.
“This couldn’t have been any better, I’m delighted.”

“It includes all the things I love, and the essential oils will help me relax on days when I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. I’m going to skip into school pick up this afternoon,” Heather said.
Intereach Senior Child, Family, and Community worker, Amber Murphy, highlighted the importance of recognising the critical role grandparents and kinship carers play in our community.
“Intereach is committed to building strong, connected communities and supporting members of our community who play such a significant role in keeping families and communities together,” she said.
“Grandparents and kinship carers deserve this acknowledgement and support.”
“Thank you to Good360 for the generous donation, which helped us deliver a day filled with relaxation, connection, and lively conversations, leaving everyone feeling rejuvenated and valued.”
