From the age of 15, 46% of women with cognitive disability and 50% of women with psychological disability have experienced sexual violence. It’s absolutely alarming and why conversations and information about consent are critical.
For our IT Support Officer Kelly, it’s a conversation they believe starts early.
“Consent is an enthusiastic yes. There’s no negotiation. Consent is ongoing and everyone has the right to change their mind at any time and have that right be respected.
“Respect is teaching everyone that their body is theirs alone, and that right must be reciprocated.”

“Women make a strong and important contribution to the family home whether they work or choose to stay at home while their children are young,” she said.
Promoting women’s financial independence is critical to prevent violence against women.
