Exciting educator opportunity in Hay

Due to a huge demand for education and care and lack of availability in Hay, Intereach is calling on educators to take advantage of a career opportunity that will not only benefit them but make a big difference in the lives of families in the area.

Intereach Family Day Care Program Manager Rebecca Fitzpatrick said the recent departure of one of the town’s two Family Day Care educators highlighted the vital need for education and care services in the community.

Ms Fitzpatrick said there are now opportunities for people looking to establish a rewarding and meaningful career with our well-established local organisation.

“We know how important quality education and care is for families and, right now, there’s a significant gap that needs to be filled in Hay,” she said.

“Whoever steps into this role won’t have to start from scratch or seek out families – the demand is already there, ready to be met.

“Being a Family Day Care educator is more than just providing education and care – it’s about shaping young lives through play-based learning, nature exploration, and community connections. Plus, it offers flexibility and the chance to work from home while building a sustainable and profitable small business.”

Family Day Care educators with Intereach deliver care and education to children aged 0-13 in their own homes, with full support from an expert coordination unit. Educators benefit from ongoing training, professional development, and access to a fantastic Employee Assistance Program for themselves and their immediate families.

Current Hay Family Day Care educator Jennilee May said the role had been both personally and professionally rewarding.

“I love watching the children I care for learn and grow from babies to school age and beyond,” she said.

“It’s amazing to be part of each child’s family as I work in partnership with them. Having a smaller group of children allows me to better cater to their needs in a home-like environment. Plus, I get to set my own fees, days, and hours, which is incredibly flexible and suits my lifestyle.

“The Intereach Family Day Care Coordination team is exceptionally supportive with regular visits, and they are only a phone call away. I couldn’t ask for a better support network.”

Setting up a Family Day Care service at home is more straightforward than many might think, with full guidance provided by Intereach. Minimum qualifications include a Certificate III in Education and Care (or equivalent), as well as training in first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis and CPR.

“We’re looking for passionate, caring individuals who want to inspire children through creativity, play, and connection. Hay families are relying on us to find the right person, so if you’re interested, please get in touch,” Ms Fitzpatrick said.
